You are right, no way does my Gemeinhardt measure up to this flute! I feel like A QUEEN! This has truely helped ease the pain of my 50th birthday!! :-( I will let you know how it plays for me in a few days, but I wanted to let you know it arrived, and how overjoyed I am with it. Thanks for checking in. My daughter received the flute for Chanukah, and her first flute lesson will be tomorrow. She is almost 8 and has been playing the recorder for about three years waiting for her fingers to grow long enough for the flute. She is very excited to begin the journey with her new instrument, and I will let you know how it goes. Many thanks for the very fairly priced instrument. It felt much safer than purchasing something on e-bay, and was priced much better than our local music shops.

My 11 yr old was playing my student flute from my high school days (I won't say exactly how old, but I had Farah Fawcett & the Fonz posters in my college dorm). She was thrilled on Christmas morning and is loving her very own flute! The little bow in the case was a great touch! She tells me its so much easier to blow into, the fingering is lighter and she doesn't have to keep screwing in post screws with her fingernail! There's a lot less reminding to practice too! We'll try to get a photo soon for your web site.

The new flute was actually a christmas present for my 12 year old daughter. She's been playing my old yamaha since she started band a year ago, so for her christmas concert (dec. 16th), I wanted her to have her own brand-new flute. She really struggled the begining of this school year because she got new braces and a retainer-like roof plate that really restricted her air flow. Her new flute has made such a BIG difference! She loves the flute and enjoys practicing SO much more!

The flute is great! It is for my daughter, but I wish it were mine. I played in grade school through high school, and she is just starting out in 5th grade this year. I was so excited to be able to buy such a nice flute for her. The Yamaha is definately as nice as I had read they were. I think it actually gets a better tone than the solid silver, open-hole Gemeinhardt that I have. Of course, it is 20 years old now, and so I'm sure that is part of it. Thanks for taking the time to check up on our happiness with the flute! Very nice of you.

I have been meaning to write to you. We got the flute within the week I ordered it. My daughter is actually the recipient. I will try to send you a picture of her playing her flute later. (Her dad accidently took the camera to work with him) Her teacher went to a flute show, tried out several models and recommended three types of flutes to us. The Yamaha 361 was one of them. I was so happy with the price you offered, we decided to spend a little more and get the all silver intermediate model instead. Both student and teacher are very happy with the tone quality and craftmanship. I expect my daughter will be using this flute through right through high school. You can bet when she is ready for another flute, I will be contacting you. Also, thank you for the tips sheet you included with our flute. We had been storing her cleaning cloth in the wrong place on her old flute.

Dear Walt,
Well, you can count this as a true flute success story. Stacy absolutely loves it. While the rest of the flute section is on around page 12 she is playing through this first book and just wishes she could learn more notes faster. It was a thrill to have her play hot crossed buns to me while I was at work. I have since lost my job so I am glad I got the flute and paid for it when I did. It is also a relief to feel you gave me a good deal. My daughter has band for 1/2 hour before school 3 days a week and she is not at all tired of it.

My flute (Yamaha 481H) arrived on Thursady. I've been playing on a Yamaha student flute for the past 5 years and it's exciting to have a new, more advanced flute to grow into. When I first opened the case, I didn't think I could touch the flute because it was so beautiful. The tone is so much better than the older Yamaha and the high notes come out great (the 4th octave C was surprisingly easy, as was high E). I'll have my flute teacher check it out on Monday, but I'm 100% sure she'll be pleased. :)

Just wanted to drop you a line about the Yamaha flute I ordered. I received it Wednesday at about 12:30 pm from Airborne Express. This purchase came about because my daughter came in from school Friday saying that her band director had told her that she should think about getting another flute. He sent a Armstrong 102 & 104 home with her to try. My daughter liked the 102 and said it was easy to play, but it had a price tag of $595 which I thought was rather pricey for a used flute. Not knowing anything about flutes, I sat down at the computer to hit the internet and learn a few things that I needed to know to buy one. I was getting pretty discouraged, then I found your web site. I was really impressed with your knowledge and experience with the Yamaha flutes, your credentials with the BBB, and of course the price which was $100-$200 dollars cheaper than anywhere else. My daughter loves this flute and says it is even easier to play than the Armstrong 102. She just started playing this year in the middle school band and is a year behind most of the other band students, so she is in last chair. She can't wait to get some practice under her belt with the new flute and get ready for section challenges.

I'm just writing to tell you that my new Gemeinhardt flute arrived the other day and it is beautiful. Thank you so much for shipping it so fast! It only took two days to get to RI! I've already played it in church and am playing for Christmas midnight mass as well and I can't wait! It has such a rich tone to it and is crystal clear. My choir director noticed right away how good it sounded. I don't know if you remember, but about two years ago you refurbished an old Armstrong for me. That flute was a such a mess when I sent it to you, the head piece was bent and the joints didn't fit together at all but I was amazed with what you did with it. I told my husband right then that you were the only person I would trust with any of my flutes. I still have the Armstrong and intend to keep it as a back up and it still sounds great! But it is fun to have a brand new one, I have to admit. :)

The flute I purchased was for my 9 year old daughter. She just started taking flute lessons at school and has been playing for 2 months. It's going great and her teacher pulled her aside last week to let her know that she thought that she was one of the best flute players in the fourth grade, and that she thought she would use her as a lead player.

THE FLUTE IS WONDERFUL!!!
I bought it as a surprise for my 15-year-old daughter. She had recently brought her old flute to me to show me that it was in desperate need of repair. She's been playing the same one for five years and it was used when we bought it, so I really thought its time had come. We received it on Friday, 2 or 3 days after ordering, and she had it in time for the marching band that Saturday. Needless to say, she was very surprised and is extremely happy. She had no idea I had ordered it.
It's nice to know I have someone on-line who can answer any questions that might come up. Unfortunately, when they begin these instruments in school, they're given very little information on how to care for it properly. Your web site is a wealth of information.

The flute was actually for my youngest daughter. She is 9 years old and is just getting started on the flute. She loves it. She almost has "Mary had a little lamb" down. The Yamaha flute arrived sooner than expected. Our daughter, who plays in the University of California Riverside band, promptly put it through it's paces and determined it has almost as good a tone as her more expensive Armstrong. I can't tell much difference.

Dear Walt,
My daughter just started lessons last week, so it's early days yet. I did find it easy to get the flute to speak, and considering I'm a recorder player with zero flute experience, I thought that says something about the playability of the instrument! I showed the flute to the band director and he said, quote, "You got a good deal!". I think at first he thought I was a bit nuts to order from the internet, but he seemed quite impressed with the quality of the instrument and the reasonable price. Both the flute and the case came today. I'm VERY pleased with them both. I practice for our 4th of July musical tonight so am very glad to have the new flute for practice. What a big difference in sound from my old flute. I am very happy with it, and it plays easily. I've always had Gemeinhardt before but wanted to try a Yamaha. The Yamaha hits the high notes much better (better even than when the Gemeinhardt was brand new). I've got a lot of very high, odd notes in the musical. We are in very odd keys with lots of accidentals (some parts have 6 flats and others 5 sharps, really odd stuff). The Yamaha plays circles around my old flute. I've played for over 40 years and this is my fourth flute in my lifetime. My Gemeinhardt piccolo still plays well. I may look at a Yamaha in a year or two.  Take care.

The package arrived while I was out and I can't imagine a sweeter surprise than to come home to a babysitter announcing that we have received a parcel. Everything in the order is in beautiful condition. I haven't had a chance to sit down in privacy with my new treasure (flute). I'll let you know how it plays after I do so. It is absolutely gorgeous! The necklace is also beautiful. The pictures do not do the real thing justice (same goes for the flute). My son's  teacher thought the flute was lovely, and although as a beginning student, he doesn't have a wonderful tone with it quite yet, the teacher put her head joint on it and played it, and it sounded just beautiful. :) He's only been studying since January, but he's already come quite far with his playing and is doing simple songs. One thing I hadn't realized before is how much air is required to play flute. The teacher says it takes more wind to play a flute than it does to play a tuba! But this band instrument store here wanted $550 for that dinky Pan flute, and here he has a lovely instrument which he can probably use forever unless he becomes a professional musician for only $50 more, so I can't see why anyone would prefer to do business locally. They applied 80 percent of rental to purchase, also, so I would have ended up paying much more for the Pan, especially by renting, over two or three years. Thank you again for your kindness and the information you post on your site. It is very helpful for us non-flute people to understand before we buy.

Thanks for the hassle this has been for you! We received your package the middle of last week, and my daughter is thrilled! She put the necklace on before we even got out of the car, and her band director has the instrument the very first day back at school. Oh there is such joy and excitement in our home tonight! The flute arrived this afternoon and my daughter had to open it right away and show it to everyone. We immediately took it to our friend who plays and she gave it the A-Okay! She is married to the band instructor. It is so beautiful! My daughter is impressed with the folding stand immensely also. Thank you for providing such joy!! Now if she can just learn to play it....that will be heaven!
